The resume that actually gets opened.

A step-by-step template you can copy right now — no download needed.

Before you start — let me tell you something important.

75% of companies use software (called an ATS) to scan your resume before a human ever sees it. If your resume isn't formatted right, you get filtered out — no matter how qualified you are.

This template is built to get you past the robot AND into a real person's hands.

How to use this template

i.

Open a new document

Use Microsoft Word or Google Docs (Google Docs is free at docs.google.com).

Use a simple font: Calibri, Arial, or Georgia at size 11 or 12. Black text on white background.

Don't use: Fancy fonts, colors, tables, columns, headshots, or graphics. The ATS robot can't read those.

ii.

Copy the structure below

Scroll down to see the resume template. Copy each section into your document in order.

Replace the [BRACKETED] parts with your own information. Don't skip any sections — the robot looks for specific headers.

iii.

Pull keywords from the job posting

Open the job listing you're applying to. Highlight every skill, software, and qualification they mention.

Use those EXACT words in your resume (where they're true for you). The ATS robot is looking for matches — give it matches!

iv.

Start every bullet with a power verb

Use strong action words: Resolved, Managed, Streamlined, Implemented, Trained, Reduced, Increased, Built, Launched.

Avoid weak openers like "Responsible for" or "Helped with."

v.

Add numbers wherever you can

Numbers make your resume powerful. Instead of "Helped customers" write "Resolved 50+ customer inquiries daily with 96% satisfaction rating."

Even rough estimates work. Be specific.

vi.

Save as PDF — and name it right

Save your resume as a PDF (not Word, unless the company specifically asks).

Name it: FirstName_LastName_Resume.pdf

Not: "Resume FINAL v3.docx" or "MyResume.pdf"

vii.

Pray before you submit

I mean this. Before you hit submit, take 30 seconds. Ask God to direct your steps and give you favor.

You are not applying alone. He is going before you.

What I can — and can't — promise

This template is a guide built from my personal experience and recruiter insights. Using it dramatically improves your chances of getting past ATS software and into a recruiter's hands — but I cannot guarantee you'll be hired for any role you apply to.

Hiring decisions depend on many factors: the company's needs, other applicants, timing, and yes — sometimes God's "no" or "not yet." What I CAN promise is that this template gives you a strong, professional foundation to build from.

By using this template, you understand that She Works In Faith is not responsible for hiring outcomes, interview results, or company decisions. Your results may vary based on your unique experience, the role you apply to, and the company's process.
